Play like a Kid
Have you ever wondered why a kid is so happy, so energized and so fun if you compare them with a normal adult. We see things in different perspectives, our line of thinking is different, our interests are different.
Kids see happiness in small little things, They are enthusiastic about today and tommorow. They don't worry about things. Kids are full of positive energy. They have wonder in their eyes. They just live life and enjoy it. Kids show there real character what they are.
The simplest way is to lose yourself in play, whether you are dreaming a world of your own, throwing frisbe to a friend, sharing illogical jokes with your friend, frolicking with your dog or watching silly videos, we allow ourselves out of the adult thinking mindset.
When we disarm ourselves and release our fear of making mistakes, we’re activating a part of our brains that we don’t use much in the grown-up world: the one that doesn’t care about deadlines or our current situation or how we look like, the one that doesn’t care how we look to others.
In the world of play, we make bonding that we wouldn’t normally make. We see things in new ways. Playfulness can enhance our creativity, uplift our mood, make us laugh, and can engage us in the world in ways that regular adult life often doesn’t.
There is no reason for a grown up enough to stop playing. When you stop noticing the playfulness of the world around you, life gets boring. I often make myself stop and re-engage in the world in a playful way, even if just to watch a funny movie or a group of child playing .Here are some ways you can add more play to your life:
1. Spending time around with young children and playing along with them can really make us feel like kids and it would also make happy when we enter their world. One disclaimer, we should leave our grownup mind behind when we play with the kids, as the fun begins when we understand their rules and play like them.
2. Walking or going for a day trip without any plans or route. To make it extra playful, toss a coin and choose a direction you’ll start out in. Then just go wherever you are drawn. Let your playful mind lead the way.
3. Play with colours. Do art without any thought. Do finger painting, do anything that comes in your mind. The idea is to enjoy and not to think too much about what you are going to create.
4. Find some friends and play Dumb Charades with them. Its fun with any kind of age group. You do the acting or your friends do the acting and people around guess the name of the movie. Its a big crowd puller and a very funny game.
5. Play with active dogs. They love to run and jump! If you don’t own one, borrow one from a friend, volunteer to walk the dogs at an animal shelter, or go hang out at a local dog park. Even just watching dogs play can be fun!
6. Keeping kids toys at your desk and keeping them around will automatically lighten things up, but when you’re bored or in a bad mood, you can simply play with them, it will reduce your boredom instantly and will help you even more.
7. Play Frisbee with friends or kids. Its so much fun when you are playing it. You would feel like a kid when you start playing it.
8. Before you start on your journey to work every day, think of something you’ll look for on your drive.Maybe they’ll be green trucks, flags, or houses with red roofs. Count the number you see by the time you get to work.
9. Watch the YouTube videos you ignore when people send them to you? Watch them.
10. Dance.Do it alone, do it with friends, do it with strangers, do it online but just dance. Any style, any place. You can’t dance while also being stressed and worried! It makes us feel like kids .
